The first bike ride

Bike ride 0 paradise for racing cyclists and mountainbikers[/caption]

Bikers are a different species - I realize that everytime I find myself on a bike. Wearing my running clothes, pedalling around nicely andcomfortably, and being aware that I'd be in serious trouble should the bike get a flat tyre. I define myself as a runner. But from time to time, I like to go biking as this sports has the big advantage that you get to see a lot more in the same time by still being very close to nature. As last Friday was supposed to be a very nice summer day, I spontaneausly decided to do a first exploration tour by bike. If I wait until I am done with the works at home, I won't be able to step outside the door for the next years ...

I decided to do the "Schwarzwald-Hochstrasse-Tour" described on the official holiday website of Freudenstadt. Simply getting to a point of the tour was an adventure as I don't live exactly there. The rest of the tour was an adventure as well, I knew it in advance. When I start a bike tour on my own with a simple printout (no cycling map) and no clue of the area, I usually get lost several times, or find myself biking on hiking trails or high speed roads where I do not exactly feel comfortable. But when I had lost my printout map and my way this time, I suddenly came across a tourist information to buy a great map and a restaurant to get some refreshment. No worries. And I enjoyed riding home without any time pressure through the hilly Black Forest. After the tour ( I needed by far more time than suggested on the website), despite feeling exhausted, I wrote on my businessplan. That was the deal I had with myself, no excuse this time. I only stopped and went to bed when I way rather lying under the table than sitting at this because of acute tiredness.

The landscape and views were spectacular! And I enjoyed the tour on this beautiful day smelling the sweet taste of hay all around so much. Here a few impressions (Susi, what are the odds that you are already on your way to visit when you see this? ;-) )
