Die neue Terrasse - the new terrace
Nun ist ein großes Projekt doch noch rechtzeitig vor Wintereinbruch fertig geworden und ich bin wahnsinnig erleichtert. Die Rede ist von der neuen Terrasse. Das hat alles dank dem "Team Familie" geklappt, welches letztes Wochenende angerückt ist. Und zwar in erweiterter Formation, neben meine Eltern kam auch mein Bruder Lukas mit seiner Freundin Isi aus München angereist. Voilà das Ergebnis:

Über die grabenden Helfer und den Traktor, der den Schotter gebracht hat, habe ich ja bereits hier berichtet. Am Wochenende vor alle Helfer kamen, um das Projekt fertigzustellen, hat Papa mit mir als Assistentin dann als Vorbereitung gemauert, den Boden gerüttelt und eine Treppe gebaut.
I have already been writing about the digging helpers and the tractor who brought the gravel here. The weekend before all helpers came to finish the project, we did some preparations: my dad (with myself as the assistant) laid bricks, evened out the surface with a vibration plate and built stairs.
Mit 5 Mann (bzw. 2 Mann und 3 Frau) ging alles relativ flott. Trotz Schneeregen waren wir voller Tatendrang. Zunächst haben wir Splitt geholt und verteilt:
With 5 men (well, 2 men and 3 women), we progressed really fast, despite some rain and snow. First, we spread the crushed stones as a basis.
Nach dem Ebnen wurden im Akkordtempo die Steine gelegt:

Die mitgebrachte Hilti kam auch kurz zum Einsatz:

Und gegen Mittag, während wir Frauen die Rüttelplatte zum Baumarkt zurückgebracht haben, haben die Männer noch "schnell" die Sandsteine für die Mauerabdeckung zurechtgesägt. Die Sandsteine kamen übrigens im Boden beim Graben im Treppenbereich hervor. So viele versteckte Schätze, denn durch die Mauer mit dem Steinbelag bekommt die Terrasse noch einen besonderen und natürlichen Touch (auf eine Mauer aus Natursteinen wurde aus Zeit- und Kostengründen verzichtet).
In the afternoon, while the women brought the vibration plate back to the DIY-Store, the men "quickly" sawed the sandstone plates for the wall coping. We discovered the natural sandstones when digging in the area of the stairs. So many hidden treadures! I really like the element of the stones here, beause it gives the terrace a more natural touch (because of budget and time reasons, we did not build the whole wall out of natural stones).
Und nach einem Arbeitstag waren wir am frühen Abend schon fertig. So konnten wir es am Sonntag etwas ruhiger angehen lassen, und es war sogar noch ein Tapezierkurs für Fortgeschrittene (mit Blümchentapete tapezieren) drin.
Die fertige Terrasse ist groß genug zum Tanzen. Bei richtigem Sonnenschein werde ich sie eventuell auch dieses Jahr noch einweihen.
In the early evening, everything had been finished! That way, we could take it a bit easier on Sunday and even had time for a wallpapering lesson for intermediates (wallpapering with a flowered wallpaper).
The terrace now is big enough to dance on it. I might inaugurate if myself this year by sitting on it if the sun comes out again.
Ich freu mich so über das Ergebnis und dass es noch geklappt hat, dieses Projekt vor dem Winter fertigzustellen. Vielen Dank Papa, Mama, Lukas, Isi, Frank, Jonas, Johannes und Lea! Ich glaube, es erübrigt sich zu sagen, dass ich das alleine nicht geschafft hätte ;-)
