Wandern im Nationalpark - hiking in the national park

1

After my last guests told me about their great hike in the national park over the "Karlsruher ridge" and to the "Edelfrauengrab" and the waterfalls, I wanted to go hiking as well. And that's what I did last Sunday, to do the same tour (which is described here).

First, the fresh and silent morning in the forest:

When I once took the wrong way, I discovered some spiny balls on the ground. I first had to think of sea urchins, which were mentioned in a documentary on the Provence I had watched the night before. They are dealt as a great speciality there. French people ... I don't undertand at all how you can eat such things, just as frog's legs, especially if a country produces such amazing goat cheese... never mind.

Back to the topic. A few minutes later, the penny dropped and I realized that the balls must be chestnuts. I started to collect them to make maroni soup in the evening.

And from now on, I will lay on the floor more often for a picture:

Then the waterfalls. Beautiful, but a too crowded place on a Sunday afternoon.

And now the highlight: der Karlsruher Grat. I can confirm that you should be sure-footed and free from giddiness for this. But if you are, you will enjoy this. Just as I did (I just wished I had collected a little less chestnuts, feeling their weight in my backpack when hanging on the hill). And if I say this, it can't be too hard ;-)

The views are georgeous at this season.

I have been a little tired afterwards. The last uphill part...

before the hike ended after the challenging up and down and climbing parts with a comfortable, slightly descending path. Also marvellous landscape pictures:

The national park definitely has a lot to offer. I had aimed to go there more often, but at least I made it this time. And I will be back.

And it still looks like I'd be doing everything but renovating. Not true! I am building little furniture pieces and am decorating the first room with its own bathroom. And the breakfast rooms are really almost done. I am only waiting for one lamp, then I will show them to you (hopefully after the coming weekend).
