Am Sonntag stand ein neuer Punkt auf dem Programm: Mountainbiking im Schwarzwald. Denn es kamen meine gute Freundin Nicole (die ja schon zum 3. Mal hier war) und ihr Freund Georg (ein erfahrener Mountainbiker) zu Besuch. Und die beiden wollten das Biken hier ausprobieren. Da hab ich mich eingeklinkt. Sportler zählen ja zu meinem zukünftigen Klientel und ich könnte mir auch vorstellen, meinen Gästen 1-2 Räder zur Verfügung zu stellen. Von einer sehr netten Firma hier in Freudenstadt hatte ich das Angebot, auch mal ein Mountainbike zu testen. Am letzten Wochenende kam ich darauf zurück und lieh mir ein Mountainbike aus.

Aus den neu ausgeschilderten Touren im Kreis (ein ganz tolles Projekt laut den Experten), suchten wir und die Hirschkopf-Trailtour aus. Und den Anfang von ihr fuhren wir auch.

Nächstes Jahr wird es anders herum sein, dass meine Eltern Radfahren (und ich mich um meine Gäste kümmere):

Last Sunday, a new point has been on the agenda: mountainbiking in the Black Forest. My good friend Nicole (who has already been here for the 3rd time) and her boyfriend Georg (an experienced mountainbiker) visited me. They wanted to try out biking here. And I joined them. Sportspeople are my future clientel. And I think about providing 1-2 mountainbikes to them. A very nice company here in Freudenstadt offered me to test a bike once. And this has been the occasion to do so.

Out of the newly signposted tours in the region (an amazing project according to the experts), we chose the Hirschkopf-trailtour. And we did it ... or the beginning of it. 

Next year, it will hopefully be the other way around. My parents will be biking while I care about my guests:

Ganz kurz ein paar Bilder von unserem Familien-Sommerurlaub, bevor die nächsten Helfer anrücken. Zunächst kam der Papa. Wir hielten uns vor allem in den zukünftigen Frühstücksräumen auf, die nun weitgehend fertig sind. Zu zweit verkleideten wir durch den Badezimmereinbau (frei)-gelegte Rohre und ich wurde endlich mal ins Verspachteln eingewiesen.

I'll quickly show you some pics of our summer family vacation, before the next helpers will come. First, my dad came. We spent most of the time in the future breakfast rooms, which are mostly renovated by now. We encased open pipes (I hope these are the right words) after the installation of the bathrooms. And I have finally been introduced into spackling. 

Im August waren genau wie letztes Jahr richtig viele Leute bei mir. Wie man sehen kann, mache ich mache schon Statistiken über die Besucherzahlen hier ;-) Der Grund für den Peak im August mag wohl auch an der Urlaubszeit liegen. Jedenfalls hat die Mund-zu-Mund-Werbung bei meinem letzten Besuch bestens funktioniert. Juliane, eine Freundin von mir aus Grundschulzeiten, die mein Projekt rege aus der Ferne beobachtet (und mir viele Links schickt, die für mich wirklich interessant sind), hat mir nun auch einen ersten Helfer und Besucher geschickt, da sie einem Freund, Dominique, von meiner Lodge erzählte. Dominique kombinierte das Helfen wunderbar mit Sport im Schwarzwald.

Zunächst einmal zur Arbeit... er durfte mir bei der Befestigung der Rollos an den Türen mit Glaseinsatz helfen. Eine wirklich wichtige Sache, da ich als Gast die erste wäre, die sich beschwert, wenn nachts das Licht im Gang angeht und mein Zimmer erleuchtet würde.

This August, I had a lot of people here, just as last year. As you can see, I am already making statistics on the number of visitors ;-) The reason for this peak might be holiday season. Well, for the last visitor, the mouth-to-mouth referral worked perfectly. Juliane, a friend of mine from elementary school, participates actively in my project (and sends me a lot of really interesting and relevant links). And she told a friend of her about my project, who came to visit. He perfectly combined helping me with doing sports in the Black Forest.

Let me first talk about the business. Dominique was asked to help me fix the blind rollers for the rooms with doors with glass insets. Something really important, as I'd be the first person to complain if somebody switched on the light at night in the hallway and my room was illuminated.

Wie ihr wisst, befinden sich in meinem Haus zwei Stockwerke mit Gästezimmern. Im oberen Stock verfügt nicht jedes Zimmer über ein eigenes Bad, in der Etage darunter aber schon. Seit Kurzem. Die Badezimmer wurden nun eingebaut (nicht in Eigenarbeit, ich habe jemanden dafür beauftragt)!

Ich wollte eigentlich schon viel früher über die ganz fertigen Badezimmer berichten, die nun schon seit einem Monat fast fertig sind. Und das wohl noch eine Weile bleiben, da andere Arbeiten im Haus wichtiger sind, dass die Arbeitsabläufe so reibungslos und schnell wie möglich weitergehen. In den Mädern müssen noch die Decken gemacht werden, die Elektrik angeschlossen sowie diverse Kleinteile (Spiegel, Haken) angebracht werden. Und das wird selbst gemacht von "uns" bzw. Papa. Deshalb war es auch etwas schwer, die Bäder zu fotografieren. Aber ich denke, man kann trotzdem sehen, wie es geworden ist. Modern, klassisch und ein hoffentlich zeitloses Design.

As you know, there are two floors with guestrooms in my house. On the upper floor, there will be shared bathrooms. On the floor below, there are en-suite-guestrooms. The bathrooms have been built in now (I contracted a company for this)! 

I had planned to report about the finished bathrooms much earlier - but they have been almost finished for 4 weeks now. And they will remain in this state for a little longer, since other tasks in the house are more important to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. The ceilings still have to be done, the electrics need to be connected and accessories (mirrors, hooks) need to be fixed. This will be done by "us" or dad. It has been a little difficult to take pictures for that reason, but I guess you can get an impression of what the bathrooms will looks like. Modern, classical in a  hopefully somehow timeless design.
